Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 Million for Cancer Prevention

The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, successfully raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This impressive total surpasses the 2024 event by over $100,000. The event featured a diverse lineup of speedruns, showcasing various games and genres, including notable runs of titles like Crazy Taxi and Super Metroid.

AGDQ, a prominent annual winter event hosted by Games Done Quick (GDQ), is one of two major fundraising marathons held yearly, complemented by the Summer Games Done Quick event in July. GDQ also organizes smaller, focused events throughout the year, such as Frame Fatales and GDQ Express. A noteworthy example is the October 2024 Disaster Relief Done Quick, which raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief in response to Hurricane Helene's impact on the Southeastern US.

The AGDQ 2025 event, held in Pittsburgh, kicked off with a speedrun of Pikmin (Switch version) by Ray0ken. The event's success significantly contributes to the Prevent Cancer Foundation's mission, which centers on early detection, prevention, research, and public awareness programs. This partnership between GDQ and PCF has a long history, with over $26 million raised collectively through various GDQ events.

A standout moment was a creative Crazy Taxi run by Chuckles825, featuring a live band performing the game's soundtrack to circumvent copyright restrictions. This innovative 18-minute run generated over $24,000 in donations. The event concluded with a thrilling randomized four-player Super Metroid (SNES) race, resulting in a nail-biting finish.

Games Done Quick will continue its fundraising efforts with Summer Games Done Quick 2025, scheduled for July 6th in Minneapolis, benefiting Doctors Without Borders.
