Andor Actor Fuels Push for Star Wars Battlefront 3 as Battlefront 2 Gains Traction
A surge in demand for a new Star Wars Battlefront title has gained momentum, backed by a star from the acclaimed Andor series.
Recent weeks have seen a revival of interest in 2017’s Star Wars Battlefront 2, with Steam recording its highest player counts in years, even after developer DICE ceased support.
Muhannad Ben Amor, known for portraying Wilmon Paak in Andor, has taken to social media to champion the cause for a new sequel.
“Star Wars needs to deliver Battlefront 3 soon,” Amor posted on Instagram (credit: Comicbook), admitting to logging 469 hours in Battlefront 2. “Impressive dedication, but stay sharp,” he added playfully.
“I grew up with Battlefront 2 and have been hooked since launch,” Amor shared. “Here’s hoping we get Battlefront 3.”
The recent spike in Star Wars Battlefront 2’s popularity ties to the buzz around Andor’s gripping second season and the franchise’s annual May 4 festivities.
After years of averaging around 2,000 concurrent players on Steam, the game’s player base has surged, nearing its all-time peak of 10,000 concurrent users.
Does this revival increase the odds of a Star Wars Battlefront 3? Currently, DICE is focused on perfecting its upcoming Battlefield title, now in player testing, with a full reveal expected this summer.
DICE may hesitate to revisit the franchise, given Battlefront 2’s rocky launch tied to loot box controversies. However, the game’s reputation has since improved significantly.
