ASTRA: Knights of Veda Removing English Dubbing After Maintenance
Improving Game Stability and Localization
Developer FLINT announced on January 20th that ASTRA: Knights of Veda will remove English dubbing support on January 23rd, 2025, to improve game stability and localization quality. Scheduled maintenance on the 23rd will implement this change, also affecting German, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, and Italian. Support for Korean, English text, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, French, Thai, and Russian will remain.
While English text remains, in-game English voiceovers will be removed. Outside of Korea, the in-game voice option will default to Japanese. This change, FLINT clarifies, won't affect players' ability to chat in any of the removed languages. FLINT assures players their commitment to providing better service and experiences.
Other Gacha Games Removing English Voiceovers
ASTRA: Knights of Veda isn't alone in this decision. Several other gacha games have also reduced or eliminated English voiceovers, including:
War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius: Square Enix removed English voiceovers for new content starting May 2024, prioritizing Japanese for future updates. Existing content retained its English dub.
Aether Gazer: Yostar Games removed all English voiceovers in February 2024 due to financial difficulties, reallocating resources to improve other game aspects.
Snowbreak: Containment Zone: Amazing Seasun Games removed English voiceovers in December 2023 after evaluating player preferences and optimizing the gaming experience. Japanese voiceovers replaced English in Version 1.4.
These decisions often stem from prioritizing the language preferred by the majority of players or managing resource allocation. Maintaining English voiceovers for years is costly, and reallocating resources allows developers to focus on long-term game health and player-preferred features.
