Captain America: Brave New World surpasses expectations, raking in an estimated $100 million domestically during its Presidents Day weekend debut.

Comscore, a box office tracking firm, reports the latest Marvel Studios film grossed approximately $88.5 million across 4,105 theaters over the three-day period, projecting a four-day total of $100 million. Adding its international earnings of $92.4 million, the film's global weekend gross is estimated at $192.4 million.

Deadline reports a production budget of $180 million, with a break-even point estimated at $425 million globally.

This strong opening places Captain America: Brave New World as the fourth-best Presidents Day debut, trailing only three other superhero films: Black Panther ($242 million), Deadpool ($152 million), and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120 million).

Despite positive box office numbers, the film has received mixed critical reception. IGN's review awarded it a 5/10, stating, "Captain America: Brave New World feels neither brave, nor all that new, despite strong performances from Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, and Carl Lumbly."

The film's long-term performance will be crucial in reversing a recent downturn for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (excluding last year's highly successful Deadpool & Wolverine), and setting the stage for upcoming releases: Thunderbolts in May and The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July.
