Concord's Content Roadmap: Beyond Launch Day

Launching on August 23rd for PS5 and PC, Concord will receive continuous updates, starting immediately. Game director Ryan Ellis, in a recent PlayStation Blog post, detailed seasonal updates featuring new characters, maps, game modes, storylines, and features. Ellis emphasizes that launch is merely the beginning of Concord's journey and player-driven growth.

Unlike many hero shooters employing Battle Passes, Concord opts for a different reward system. Firewalk Studios explains their decision: "We focused on creating a rewarding experience from day one, where playing, leveling up, and completing objectives provides meaningful rewards." This means players will earn significant rewards through gameplay, without the need for a Battle Pass.

Concord Season 1: The Tempest - Arriving in October

Season 1: The Tempest, launching in October, introduces a new playable Freegunner, a fresh map, additional Freegunner Variants, and new cosmetic rewards. Weekly Cinematic Vignettes will expand the Northstar crew's story.

The In-Game Store: Cosmetic Enhancements

Season 1 also introduces an in-game store offering purely cosmetic customization options. These items won't affect gameplay, supplementing the rewards earned through progression.

Season 2 and Beyond: A Year of Content

Season 2 is scheduled for January 2025, marking the start of Firewalk's commitment to regular seasonal updates throughout Concord's first year. A steady stream of new content is promised.

Mastering Concord: Gameplay Tips and Strategies

Ellis also shared gameplay advice, highlighting the "Crew Builder" system. Players create Custom Crews of five Freegunners (characters), allowing up to three copies of any Variant. This enables strategic team composition based on playstyle and match challenges.

The Crew Builder encourages diverse team roles. Unlike traditional Tank/Support archetypes, Concord's Freegunners are high-DPS combatants. Six roles—Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden—define their impact on the match, influencing area control, sightlines, and flanking. Combining Freegunners from different roles unlocks Crew Bonuses, offering mobility boosts, recoil reduction, and more.
