Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, recently expressed his enthusiasm for a live-action adaptation of the game, featuring himself and Keanu Reeves. In an interview with ScreenRant promoting Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (where he and Reeves share the screen), Elba was asked about a potential Cyberpunk 2077 movie. His response? "Oh, man, that's a great question. I think if any film could do a live-action rendition, it could be [Cyberpunk 2077], and I think his character and my character together would be, ‘Whoa.’ So, let's speak that into existence."

For those unfamiliar, Reeves portrayed the iconic Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077, while Elba starred as Solomon Reed in the game's 2023 expansion, Phantom Liberty.

This isn't just wishful thinking. Variety reported in October 2023 that a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 project is underway, with CD Projekt Red partnering with Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce a year later, the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and the live-action Witcher series suggests a Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation is a strong possibility.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Prequel Manga Released

Beyond a potential live-action film, the Cyberpunk universe continues to expand. The first chapter of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, a prequel manga, is now available in several languages, with a full volume slated for 2025. Written by Bartosz Sztybor (producer of the anime and CDPR's narrative director), the manga focuses on Rebecca and Pilar before joining Maine's crew.

Furthermore, a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Blu-ray release is planned for 2025, and CD Projekt Red has teased a new animated series. The future of Cyberpunk is clearly bright, with multiple projects in development.
