Dan Slott Returns to DC: Superman Unlimited
DC Comics has announced Superman Unlimited, a new monthly series launching in May 2025, marking the return of Marvel Comics veteran writer Dan Slott to DC. Slott, renowned for his work on Marvel titles such as The Amazing Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and Fantastic Four, spent the last two decades exclusively with Marvel. His previous DC credits include Arkham Asylum: Living Hell and Batman Adventures.

Superman Unlimited pairs Slott with artist Rafael Albuquerque (known for American Vampire) and colorist Marcelo Maiolo. Slott expressed his excitement, stating, “He’s the first and greatest superhero, and I’ve been waiting my whole life to tell stories about him… Rafael Albuquerque and I are going to take him—and you—to places you’ll want to escape to every month. Millions of surprising ideas for Superman, Lois, the supporting cast, classic rogues, and all-new friends and foes too. If you’ve never read a Superman book, a DC book, or any comic book before—or if you’ve been a Superman fan your entire life—you couldn’t ask for a better place to take the leap and go all in than Superman Unlimited #1.”
The series introduces a perilous new status quo. A Kryptonite asteroid shower imbues the planet with Green K, empowering Intergang and other villains with Kryptonite-based weaponry. Superman must develop new technology and strategies to combat this threat. Simultaneously, Clark Kent faces a transformed Daily Planet, now a global multimedia conglomerate after merging with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications.
DC group editor Paul Kaminski compared the series to Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness’s Superman/Batman from the early 2000s, highlighting its scope and impact on the broader Superman mythos. He described a world where "Superman is stopping a bank robbery, but every weapon is packed with Kryptonite ammunition and every petty criminal carries a Kryptonite shiv. This is a world of unlimited danger on a level that Superman, and DC’s Superman family of characters, has never faced before.” He further noted the contrast with the concurrently running Justice League Unlimited, calling Superman Unlimited a tale of “unlimited Super-Villains that are super-charged by Kryptonite.”

A 10-page prelude story in DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1 will launch on May 3, 2025, followed by Superman Unlimited #1 on May 21, preceding the July 11 release of James Gunn's Superman film.
