Akupara Games has been prolific lately, releasing a string of titles. Following their deck-building game Zoeti, they've launched The Darkside Detective, a quirky puzzle game, and its sequel, The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark (both available simultaneously!).

Delving into the Darkness: A Look at The Darkside Detective

The game opens on a gloomy, fog-shrouded night in Twin Lakes, a town where the strange, supernatural, and utterly ridiculous are commonplace. Players control Detective Francis McQueen and his partner, the endearingly clumsy Officer Patrick Dooley.

Together, they form the Darkside Division, a perpetually underfunded unit of the Twin Lakes Police Department. Players solve nine short, engaging cases, exploring the hilarious and bizarre world of The Darkside Detective and its equally witty sequel.

These point-and-click adventures offer a diverse range of challenges, from time travel puzzles and monstrous tentacles to uncovering carnival secrets and battling mafia zombies. See the action for yourself in the trailer below!

The game is a delightful homage to pop culture, brimming with references to classic horror films, sci-fi series, and buddy cop movies. Case titles alone are entertaining: Malice in Wonderland, Tome Alone, Disorient Express, Police Farce, Don of the Dead, Buy Hard, and Baits Motel.
