Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4: A Console Testing Update from Toby Fox

Undertale creator Toby Fox recently provided an update on the testing phase for Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. Console testing is progressing smoothly, although significant work remains. Fox noted on Bluesky that PS5 testing hasn't even begun yet. Beyond bug fixes, the team is focusing on a crucial feature: save transfer.

Save Transfer Functionality

The development team is implementing the ability to transfer saves from the Chapters 1 and 2 demo to the full console release of Chapters 3 and 4. This feature, recently made possible by acquiring the necessary technology, is a key priority. Fox expressed optimism about its success.

With beta testing showing positive results, the release date may be approaching. Fox previously confirmed a 2025 release window for Chapters 3 and 4.

A New Character: Tenna

Amidst the development process, Fox shared a humorous anecdote about a minigame he's creating. His family and friends interpreted it as a cry for help due to the game's delayed release. This sparked speculation that the minigame might be intended for Chapter 5, given Fox's previous statement that Chapters 3 and 4 were content-complete in 2024. Deltarune is planned as a seven-chapter saga.

Furthermore, Fox mentioned a fan's nostalgic comment about a character named Tenna, who hasn't yet appeared in the main game but was featured in the Spamton Sweepstakes campaign in September 2022. This confirms Tenna's inclusion in Chapter 3.

Deltarune, the spiritual successor to Undertale, continues to build anticipation. Players will once again follow Kris, Susie, and Ralsei on their world-saving adventure.
