Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play action RPG incorporating extraction shooter mechanics. A closed alpha test begins January 25th in Europe, expanding to North America on February 1st.

Game director Andrei Cirkulete describes the game as a blend of "the tension and risk-reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of a combat RPG," hinting at influences from titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. Player feedback is highly valued during this alpha phase.

Players assume the role of a Death messenger, battling AI and other players across diverse maps. Successful evacuations preserve hard-earned trophies; failure results in complete loot loss.

Customization is key, with options to build a personal base, personalize equipment, and experiment with various playstyles. The game world draws inspiration from global mythologies, while player trading underpins the in-game economy.

The initial adventure takes place in "Destiny's Edge," a region inspired by Scandinavian folklore. Despite being in early alpha, the developers plan for active community involvement to shape the game's development.
