Rescuing Sam During "Reckoning"

However, infiltrating the camp requires strategy; you can either opt for stealth or confront the situation head-on with violence.

To navigate the camp without arousing suspicion, you'll need a guard's outfit. You can obtain one by eliminating a guard and stealing his attire, ensuring to conceal his body afterward. Alternatively, a less confrontational approach involves looting one of the many chests scattered throughout the camp. Once you're dressed as a guard, you can freely explore the area in search of Sam.

Sam is located in a barn on the left side of the camp, past an open area featuring a cooking fire. Access the barn by using the side ladder and descending inside, where you'll encounter Brabant. At this juncture, you face critical choices: you can either kill or spare Brabant. Opting to spare him contributes to achieving the best ending, though the final decision rests with you.

When to Rescue Sam

After freeing Sam, it's not immediately time to escape with him. Sam will inform you about von Aulitz, another important figure also held within the camp. For optimal results, address von Aulitz first, then secure a horse, before returning to Sam to orchestrate your exit. Sam can wait safely while you complete these tasks, which are more manageable in this sequence due to the need to transport him to the horse.

Von Aulitz is found in the main section of the camp. With your guard disguise, you can easily enter his location. Upon finding him, you'll discover he's already near death. He requests a dignified end, which you can grant as the most honorable option. Alternatively, you can choose to kill him cruelly or leave him to die slowly. Interestingly, leaving him to die aligns with achieving the best ending.

Your final steps involve retrieving Sam and securing a horse. Sam remains in the barn where you initially found him. If questioned by a guard about your actions, simply state that you're moving a body, which should dispel any suspicion. Proceed to the camp's gates, exit, and then veer right to circumvent the camp's perimeter.
