DOOM launched on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter
The DOOM franchise's adaptability continues to amaze, with recent experiments pushing the game's boundaries. A tech enthusiast, NyanSatan, successfully ran the classic DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter.
The adapter, as NyanSatan revealed, utilizes iOS-based firmware and a processor clocked at up to 168 MHz. The process involved accessing the adapter's firmware and then executing the game. A MacBook was necessary for firmware transfer due to the adapter's lack of internal memory.
Meanwhile, news about a new DOOM iteration surfaced. DOOM: The Dark Ages will allow players to adjust demon aggression in the game's settings, emphasizing accessibility. The game promises significantly more customization options than previous id Software titles.
Marty Stratton, executive producer, confirmed the studio's focus on accessibility. Players can modify enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, damage received, and other parameters like game pace, aggression levels, and parry timing.
Furthermore, Stratton clarified that prior DOOM experience isn't required to understand the storylines of DOOM: The Dark Ages or DOOM: Eternal.
