Funcom has launched an immersive new trailer for Dune: Awakening, their ambitious survival MMO set in Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi universe. The footage highlights the unforgiving deserts of Arrakis, revealing both the dangers and possibilities awaiting players.

Survival in the Sands of Arrakis

In Dune: Awakening, resource gathering and exploration become vital survival mechanics. Adventurers must traverse deadly dunes to collect materials for constructing shelters and vehicles - including the iconic combat-ready ornithopters. The game introduces a scanner tool for efficient resource detection, while strategically placed probes on high ground will map nearby points of interest.

These discoveries range from wrecked spaceships to deserted settlements, each requiring creative navigation using gear like grappling hooks, power belts, and other specialized equipment. Players can continuously upgrade their arsenal through modular improvements at their home bases.

Early Access and Performance Testing

The PC early access launch arrives on May 20, with console versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S planned for full release. Prospective players can currently use Steam's benchmark tool to test system performance and experiment with the character creator.
