The map in Nightreign will dynamically generate features like volcanoes, forests, and swamps, ensuring that no two adventures are ever the same.

True to its Soulslike roots, Elden Ring Nightreign integrates environmental hazards such as poison swamps, compelling players to adapt their tactics continually. "We're aiming for large-scale changes to the terrain," Ishizaki stated, "where players might encounter procedurally appearing volcanoes, swamps, or forests."

The vision behind this feature is to transform the map into a vast, ever-changing dungeon. "We want the map to feel like a giant dungeon," Ishizaki explained, "offering players new paths and exploration opportunities with every playthrough." For instance, navigating through forested areas will require players to be wary, as these environments can provide cover for both them and lurking enemies.

"Once players commit to a path, it influences their strategy against bosses," Ishizaki added. "This dynamic environment encourages players to think about acquiring specific gear, like poison weapons, to tackle certain challenges more effectively."

Fans of the series might also encounter familiar terrains, such as the notorious Swamp of Aeonia and Lake of Rot, which slow players down and impose the Rot debuff.
