Sony's copyright claims against Bloodborne fan projects are intensifying. Following last week's takedown of the Bloodborne 60fps mod by Lance McDonald, Lilith Walther's Bloodborne PSX demake has now been targeted. A YouTube video showcasing the demake received a copyright claim from MarkScan Enforcement, a company reportedly hired by Sony Interactive Entertainment – the same company responsible for the DMCA against McDonald's mod.

McDonald theorizes that Sony's aggressive actions are a preemptive measure to clear the way for an official 60fps remake or remaster. He suggests that removing fan projects from search results for terms like "Bloodborne 60fps" and "Bloodborne remake" would prevent conflicts when an official release is announced, potentially facilitating trademark registration.

The situation highlights the ongoing frustration surrounding Bloodborne's lack of official next-gen support, remaster, or sequel. While PS4 emulators now offer a near-remaster experience at 60fps, Sony's response remains unclear. Although Sony has yet to comment, former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida offered a personal theory: Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game's creator, is so attached to the original vision that he's hesitant to allow others to work on it, and Sony respects his wishes.

Despite Miyazaki's past comments suggesting a release on modern hardware would be beneficial, and FromSoftware's lack of IP ownership, Bloodborne remains largely untouched almost a decade after its initial release. The ongoing DMCA actions, while potentially strategic, offer no concrete indication of a future official release.
