Pick Up the Canker Side Quest

Just speak to Gules beforehand while he's enjoying a drink. However, the quest is also available before the wedding; simply visit Semine and talk to Gules while he's on patrol. Ask him about his former band of bandits and express your willingness to help him eradicate the remaining threats. Canker, one of those ex-bandits, becomes your first target.

Find and Kill Canker

Be cautious as the path to this location is notorious for ambushes by bandits. You can choose to sneak past them, engage in combat, or simply flee. These random encounters with bandits are usually manageable, but it's frustrating to lose health before facing the main combat challenge ahead.

The bandit camp where Canker resides is nestled in the mountains, and it's easy to overlook because you must pass through a narrow gap to reach it, similar to accessing the Hermit's house for the "Wedding Crashers" quest. Prepare thoroughly for battle before entering, as you'll confront multiple bandits along with Canker himself.

The order in which you defeat the bandits might influence whether some flee the scene. However, you must eliminate most of them, so don't expect to avoid combat entirely. Fortunately, Canker won't escape, ensuring you can complete your mission by killing him as required.

Finish the Quest and Return to Gules

After defeating Canker and his accomplices, loot his body to claim the Light Mace, which serves as proof of your success. Feel free to take any additional items that catch your eye. Once you've collected the mace, head back to Gules to officially complete the "Canker" quest.

Following the completion of "Canker," you'll need to wait a full in-game day before you can engage in the next quest involving Gules' former bandit associates. After the day has passed, speak with Gules again to pick up the quest "Handsome Charlie."
