DC Studios co-chief James Gunn addresses online criticism regarding Superman's facial expression during a flight sequence in a recently released TV spot.

A new 30-second promotional video features previously unseen footage: Lex Luthor exiting a helicopter in a snowy environment, possibly near the Fortress of Solitude, and Superman performing a barrel roll during high-speed flight.

The scene sparked debate, with some viewers noting Superman's face appears unusually still while his hair and cape move dynamically. Speculation of flawed CGI ensued. However, Gunn clarified on Threads that the shot is entirely practical, devoid of CGI effects on Corenswet's face. He attributed the perceived stillness to the close-up wide-angle lens used. The background, filmed in Svalbard, Norway, is also confirmed as authentic.

The explanation hasn't entirely quelled the discussion. Comparisons to the flying Adam Warlock scene in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (also directed by Gunn) persist. Despite the controversy surrounding this brief clip, anticipation for the Superman film remains high.
