Gunn Teases Big Cameo in Peacemaker S2 Finale
DC Studios chief James Gunn dropped tantalizing hints about a major surprise appearance coming in Peacemaker Season 2's finale - though he's keeping fans guessing whether it's a Superman character or someone from DCU's wider mythology.
The upcoming Superman film serves as a chronological prequel to Peacemaker's second season, which hits HBO Max (yes, they've reverted to the old branding) on August 21, 2025. While Supergirl arrives June 26, 2026, the Lanterns series remains undated - both projects take place after Superman and Peacemaker Season 2 in DCU's timeline.
Sparks Fly in New Peacemaker Trailer
Max recently unveiled a Season 2 preview showing Superman allies Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner interviewing Peacemaker for their team - with predictably disastrous results for the helmeted antihero.
Gunn told Entertainment Weekly that Peacemaker Season 2 directly ties into both Superman and future DCU developments: "We explore more about the Quantum Unfolding Chamber technology glimpsed in Season 1, which plays a central role in Superman."
"The QUC drives Season 2's storyline," Gunn continued. "You'll see familiar faces from Superman like Isabela, Nathan and Sean, plus other DCU characters later in the season. And maybe... just maybe... one absolutely massive cameo right at the end."
DCU's Flexible Timeline
Set a few years after Season 1 (though Gunn admits DCU's chronology remains intentionally vague), Peacemaker continues shaping this rebooted universe. When asked about organizing DCU projects like Marvel's Disney+ timeline, Gunn explained: "For now, watch order follows release sequence - though some contain flashbacks."
The DCU roadmap includes Creature Commandos, Superman, Peacemaker, Lanterns and Supergirl - with Clayface arriving September 11, 2026. While The Authority faces development hurdles and Waller spin-off encounters delays, Booster Gold progresses steadily and Paradise Lost remains a priority.
Character Convergence
