League of Legends Hextech Chest Brought Back After Fan Feedback
Responding to player feedback, League of Legends is reinstating Hextech Chests. This article details the upcoming update and future plans for LoL.
League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Decisions
The Return of Hextech Chests
Following player feedback, League of Legends (LoL) is bringing back Hextech Chests. A developer update, published on Riot Games' website and YouTube channel on February 27, 2025, outlines upcoming changes.
Riot Games acknowledged recent unpopular changes, stating, "Recent updates haven't resonated with everyone. We've heard your feedback and recognize areas needing adjustment." The return of Hextech Chests was a key request, with Riot admitting, "Many players valued Hextech Chests not just for rewards, but for the rewarding gameplay experience. We underestimated their importance, leading to poorly received changes."
Hextech Chests will return in patch 25.05, offering players up to 10 chests and keys per act. Eight chests are earned through the free pass, with the remaining two obtainable via the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed & Further Fan-Driven Adjustments
The release of the Exalted Mordekaiser skin has been postponed. Riot Games aims to "ensure it aligns better with its intended design." The entire Exalted skin line will also be delayed, meaning fewer skins than initially planned will launch this year.
Further addressing player feedback, LoL will "replace a non-Prestige skin with 25 Mythic Essence, acknowledging feedback regarding Mythic Essence scarcity in the paid pass and the excessive number of champions per seasonal theme."
To improve champion accessibility, the Blue Essence cost for all champions will be reduced by 50% in patch 25.05.
Clash, previously scheduled for less frequent events, will revert to a monthly schedule. March will feature ARURF Clash, followed by a standard SR Clash in April.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Restored
Popular in-game shops, Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium, will return this year, launching in patches 25.06 and 25.07 respectively.
Riot Games emphasized, "Improving League isn't a one-time fix. It's about continuous refinement. These updates are a crucial step, and we'll continue monitoring player feedback and making adjustments."
This response demonstrates Riot Games' commitment to incorporating player feedback to create a more enjoyable experience. League of Legends remains free-to-play on PC. Visit our League of Legends page for the latest updates.
