After an extensive three-year journey in development, Longvinter has triumphantly exited early access on Steam with the launch of its much-anticipated version 1.0. The developers have celebrated this milestone by rolling out a series of updates that promise to rejuvenate the gaming experience for both new players and dedicated fans alike.

The highlight of this update is the introduction of oil rigs scattered across the archipelago. Players can now dive into the new mechanic of extracting oil, refining it into fuel, and engaging in thrilling battles against mercenaries from the notorious Longvinter Resource Industries (LRI) who control these vital supply lines. Adding to the excitement, new events such as helicopter crashes that drop tactical gear and an underground arena where players can compete for valuable rewards every hour have been introduced.

The game world has been enriched with a diverse array of new wildlife, including lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and goats, all of which players can now tame as mounts. The update also brings a plethora of new items to the game, ranging from hats that provide buffs, combat vests, an assortment of weapons and explosives, to kitchen recipes. Players can also enhance their bases with new interactive objects such as oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and turrets. Additionally, significant adjustments have been made to weapon balance to ensure a more dynamic gameplay experience.

Looking forward, the developers have teased the upcoming 1.1 update, which will introduce farming mechanics, a revamped tutorial to ease new players into the game, apartment rentals, and shared community spaces. Furthermore, Longvinter is set to expand its horizons beyond PC, with a confirmed launch on PlayStation slated for 2026.
