Mai Shiranui has caused a huge surge of interest in Street Fighter 6
Street Fighter 6 welcomes a new fighter, reigniting player interest. The popular Capcom fighting game, boasting 4.4 million copies sold by December 31st, 2024, has added Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury franchise.
This addition, the third character in the game's second season, significantly boosted Street Fighter 6's popularity. Steam's peak concurrent players surged to over 63,000 on Mai's release day, a substantial increase from the previous peak of 24-27,000 – the highest since May 2024.
Access to Mai is granted through the Battle Pass. World Tour mode allows players to cultivate a relationship with Mai, learn her moves, and subsequently test them in Battle Hub. A second costume, inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, is also available.
Battle Hub temporarily features guest character, Professor Woshige, a renowned fighting game developer. Players can experience his unique fighting style until March 10th. The update also includes new Master League ranks and accompanying rewards.
