Marvel's Easter Egg Hint: Who's the Next Superhero?
Marvel Rivals Season 1: A Glimpse of Wong and the Arrival of the Fantastic Four
Marvel Rivals' Season 1, "Eternal Night," launching January 10th, has players buzzing with anticipation. The season introduces Dracula as the main antagonist, fueling speculation about other supernatural Marvel characters joining the roster. Confirmed additions include the entire Fantastic Four, with bonus skins for Mister Fantastic (as the Maker) and Invisible Woman (as Malice).
But a recent discovery has ignited excitement about a potential future addition: Wong. A Reddit user, fugo_hate, highlighted a brief shot in the Sanctum Sanctorum map trailer showcasing a painting of Doctor Strange's mystical ally, Wong. This Easter egg has sparked speculation amongst players that Wong might become a playable character, leading to discussions about his potential in-game abilities.
Wong's popularity has skyrocketed thanks to Benedict Wong's MCU portrayal. While he previously appeared in games like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (non-playable) and Marvel Contest of Champions, his inclusion in Marvel Rivals would be a significant addition.
The Sanctum Sanctorum map itself is packed with Marvel universe references, so the Wong painting might simply be a fun cameo. However, the possibility of a magic-wielding Wong joining the fight has certainly captured the imagination of the Marvel Rivals community, which already boasts over 10 million players in its first 72 hours. Season 1's arrival this week, featuring three new maps and a Doom Match mode, will keep players busy while they eagerly await further roster announcements.
