The horror community is buzzing with excitement as Matthew Lillard, the original Ghostface killer Stu Macher from 1996's Scream, has officially signed on for Scream 7 according to Deadline.

How Can Ghostface Return?

Fans are scratching their heads wondering how Lillard's character could possibly return after his infamous demise in the first film. Whether he'll reprise his iconic role or take on a new identity remains shrouded in mystery - though Lillard himself dropped a tantalizing hint on Instagram recently.

The original Scream trio is partially reuniting, with Lillard joining Neve Campbell's Sidney Prescott and Courteney Cox's Gale Weathers. The cast also includes Scott Foley, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown.

A Production Full of Twists

The road to Scream 7 has been as dramatic as one of Ghostface's phone calls. After controversial exits including Melissa Barrera's firing and Jenna Ortega's departure, the project nearly collapsed entirely. Director Christopher Landon's emotional exit post only added to the turmoil.

Thankfully, franchise creator Kevin Williamson stepped in to direct, bringing the series back to its roots. While Radio Silence won't return as directors, they remain as executive producers alongside returning writer Guy Busick.
