The highly anticipated Monopoly movie from Lionsgate has finally found its screenwriters in John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the talented duo behind the critically acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

As announced today, Daley and Goldstein will pen the screenplay for the film, which is being developed based on Hasbro's iconic board game. Margot Robbie's production company, LuckyChap, will produce the project, continuing her involvement in bringing popular properties to life.

[ttpp]Backed by a rich history of development, the Monopoly movie has had several iterations over the years. In 2007, Ridley Scott reportedly showed interest in directing, while in 2011, Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski were hired to write the script. A 2015 version by Andrew Niccol followed, and in 2019, actor Kevin Hart and director Tim Story were rumored to join the project. Unfortunately, none of these versions moved forward until now.

With Lionsgate's recent acquisition of eOne from Hasbro, the project has been reignited under Daley and Goldstein's creative vision. Here’s hoping this version successfully crosses the finish line and brings the beloved game to life on the big screen.
