Netflix is developing a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series based in the Forgotten Realms setting, according to a report by Deadline. The project is spearheaded by Shawn Levy (director of Deadpool and The Adam Project), alongside writer-showrunner Drew Crevello (WeCrashed) and Hasbro. This Forgotten Realms setting served as the backdrop for the recent film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and the hugely successful video game Baldur's Gate 3. Deadline describes this potential adaptation as one of Netflix's most significant investments in the fantasy genre to date. Crevello has reportedly written the pilot and will serve as showrunner, though Netflix and Hasbro have yet to officially comment. Deadline's Nellie Andreeva reports that after extensive negotiations, the series is now in development at Netflix, with the potential to launch a larger D&D universe.

While this live-action series shows promise, there's currently no news regarding a sequel to Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, despite its popularity with fans. In November 2023, Chris Pine expressed his desire to reprise his role, expressing confidence in a sequel, but no further updates have been released. Paramount CEO Brian Robbins indicated openness to a sequel, but only if the budget is significantly reduced. In the meantime, Amazon's Secret Level anthology series features a D&D animated segment.
