Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con Mouse Theory Is Looking Pretty Good Right About Now
The Nintendo Switch 2 reveal this morning lends significant credence to earlier rumors about Joy-Con mouse functionality.
The reveal trailer showcases detached Joy-Cons placed attachment-side down on a surface, connecting to flat-bottomed connectors. These then move across the surface, mimicking mouse movements on a mousepad. A visible slider pad on one connector further supports this theory.
Pre-reveal speculation centered on an internal Joy-Con sensor, similar to those found in computer mice. While Nintendo hasn't officially confirmed this feature or its implications, fans anticipate its use in titles like Civilization, traditionally better suited to mouse and keyboard controls. However, given Nintendo's innovative history, unique applications within first-party software are also anticipated. The possibilities remain open.
