Obsidian's Avowed: 60fps on Xbox Series X Confirmed, Series S Locked at 30fps

Avowed, Obsidian Entertainment's highly anticipated RPG, will achieve a frame rate of up to 60 frames per second (fps) on the Xbox Series X, according to game director Carrie Patel in a recent MinnMax interview. While Patel didn't elaborate on specifics, the confirmation clarifies previous reports. The Xbox Series S version, however, will remain capped at 30fps, as previously announced.

Whether Avowed will offer selectable performance and graphics modes—a common feature allowing players to prioritize either higher frame rates or enhanced visuals—remains unclear. The possibility exists that 60fps will be the default setting on the Series X.

Avowed's release date is staggered based on the edition purchased. The premium edition, priced at $89.99, grants access on February 13th. The standard edition ($69.99) will launch five days later, on February 18th. This pricing strategy, while employed by other publishers, has already been abandoned by some, such as Ubisoft.

Sharing the universe of Pillars of Eternity, Avowed is a first-person fantasy RPG emphasizing player choice and agency. Players will unravel a narrative rich in war, mystery, and intrigue, forging alliances and rivalries along their journey.
