Path of Exile 2: A Comprehensive Guide to Ritual Endgame Events

Path of Exile 2 introduces four major endgame map events: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a returning mechanic from previous leagues, detailing how to initiate them, their mechanics, the Pinnacle boss, and the unique reward system.

Identifying and Initiating Ritual Events

On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a red pentagram and demonic face. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, inserted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.

Once in a Ritual map, several Altars will spawn. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemies and mechanics. Modifiers might include massive rat swarms, life-draining blood pools, or other challenges.

To activate a Ritual, interact with an Altar after reviewing its modifiers. A large circle will illuminate around the Altar; remain within this zone to defeat all enemies. Leaving the circle prematurely ends the event without rewards. Completing all Rituals on a map marks it as complete.

The King in the Mists: The Ritual Pinnacle Boss

The 'An Audience With The King' currency item, obtained from Ritual Favours, unlocks a fight against the King in the Mists, located in The Crux Of Nothingness. This boss shares mechanics with his Act 1 Cruel counterpart (Freythorn zone).

Defeating the King in the Mists grants two Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique Ritual-exclusive items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessible via the Atlas Passive Skill Tree screen (bottom right), enhances Ritual rewards. Points are earned by defeating the King in the Mists (2 points per victory). Increasing the boss's difficulty is mandatory for each new Notable node.

Notable Nodes and Their Effects:

Prioritize 'From The Mists', 'Spreading Darkness', and 'Ominous Portents' for optimal reward increases. Then, focus on 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' for enhanced Omen and boss encounter chances.

Ritual Rewards: Tribute and Favours

Completing Rituals yields Tribute, a temporary currency used to purchase Favours (randomized items). More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock more Favours, ranging from basic Magic items and currencies to Rare gear and high-tier currencies. 'An Audience With The King' is exclusively found within Favours.

Omens: Powerful Consumable Items

Omens are powerful consumable items that modify the effects of other currency items. Examples include Omens of Annulment (targeted modifier removal) and Omens of Alchemy (targeted modifier addition). They are highly valuable and often traded for numerous high-value currencies.

Additional Rewards

Beyond Tribute and Favours, Ritual enemies drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop unique items from a pool exclusive to the Ritual event.
