The spine-chilling ghost-hunting sensation Phasmophobia is getting its own silver screen adaptation thanks to a partnership between UK developer Kinetic Games and horror powerhouse Blumhouse Productions.

A Match Made in Horror Heaven

Blumhouse - the studio behind terrifying hits like Five Nights at Freddy's, The Conjuring, and M3gan - has joined forces with the indie developer to bring Phasmophobia's paranormal investigations to theaters. While details remain scarce about the creative team behind the project, horror fans everywhere are already buzzing with anticipation.

"This is a monumental moment for our entire team," said Kinetic Games director Daniel "Dknighter" Knight. "Five years ago when we launched Phasmophobia in Early Access, we never dreamed it would evolve into this cultural phenomenon."

From Viral Hit to Silver Screen

The cooperative horror game tasks teams of four investigators with gathering paranormal evidence in haunted locations - a premise that famously broke Twitch records with its terrifying yet addictive gameplay loop. Since its 2020 debut, the title has sold over 23 million copies and spawned an entire subgenre of ghost-hunting games.

Later this month's Chronicle update promises major improvements to the evidence system, journal mechanics, and progression system, keeping Phasmophobia fresh ahead of its Hollywood debut.

A Spotty Track Record for Game Adaptations
