Path of Exile 2's endgame demands meticulous preparation. Fortunately, the developers have strategically placed easily-missed encounters within the main campaign, offering permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and weapon set skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a significant +10% Lightning Resistance buff—twice! However, its subtle nature often leads players to overlook it. This guide explains how to locate and activate this valuable buff.

Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan

The Sisters of Garukhan shrine appears twice: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with the shrine grants the +10% Lightning Resistance bonus. Its understated icon on the world map often goes unnoticed.

Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, pinpointing its exact location in the Spires of Deshar is impossible. However, diligent exploration will reveal a shrine resembling the image above. Approaching and interacting with it activates the buff. Be prepared for a fight; previously inactive automatons will animate and attack upon activation. This triggers all automatons on the map.

A helpful strategy: If you reach the checkpoint near the exit before finding the shrine, fast travel back to it using the checkpoint near the shrine to avoid traversing the entire map.

Claiming Your +10% Lightning Resistance

The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied instantly upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activation is immediate.

Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan encounter is repeatable in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating it twice yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.

Troubleshooting: Why No Lightning Resistance Buff?

Many players find it confusing that despite activating the shrine and receiving the confirmation message, their resistance values remain negative.

This is due to a game mechanic: Completing each Act in PoE 2 imposes a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected). Therefore, activating the Sisters of Garukhan in Act 2 neutralizes the Act 1 debuff, resulting in net zero Lightning Resistance. In Act 2 Cruel, the buff partially offsets the accumulated elemental resistance debuffs.

To verify the buff's effect, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance debuff indicates that you've likely activated the shrine correctly.
