This title was poised to be a standout Xbox One exclusive, sparking widespread excitement among gamers. Announced in 2014, the project unfortunately did not see the light of day, with Microsoft officially pulling the plug in 2017.

Recently, Clovers Inc's official account on X shared a video featuring Hideki Kamiya and his team revisiting archived gameplay footage of Scalebound. During this nostalgic review, Kamiya expressed his ongoing pride in the project despite its cancellation. He further amplified his sentiments by retweeting the video with a direct message to Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft's gaming division: "Come on, Phil, let's do this!". This plea underscores Kamiya's persistent interest in potentially reviving the game, a sentiment he first voiced publicly in early 2022.

The gaming community has frequently speculated about Scalebound's revival, with rumors intensifying in early 2023. At that time, various sources suggested the possibility of a project reboot, though Microsoft remained silent on the matter. When questioned by the Japanese publication Game Watch, Phil Spencer responded with a cryptic smile and the comment, "I have nothing to add at this time."

Even if Microsoft were to express interest in revisiting Scalebound, an immediate relaunch seems unlikely. Hideki Kamiya is currently engrossed in developing a new installment of Okami at Clovers Inc. Should Xbox greenlight the project, Kamiya could only begin working on Scalebound after completing his current commitments. Despite these challenges, the continued attention and affection for Scalebound after all these years offer a glimmer of hope that one day, fans might finally experience its long-awaited release.
