After escaping Fort Joy and having your Source collar removed in Divinity: Original Sin 2, you find yourself aboard the Elven ship, Lady Vengeance. The challenge ahead is to get this unique ship sailing, which requires unconventional methods since it can't be controlled from the helm. Your journey involves exploring the ship, engaging with NPCs, and potential companions to uncover the secrets of the ship's control mechanism. The key is to access Magister Dallis' cabin, read the Ancient Songbook, and sing the song to the ship. If you're struggling to progress, this guide will walk you through the necessary steps.

Investigate Dead Bodies On The Ship

To begin solving the puzzle of getting Lady Vengeance to sail, start by examining the magister and gheist bodies on the ship's deck. Loot them for valuables and clues, including a Sodden Diary from one of the magisters, which contains the password to a crucial door in the ship's cabin.

You can also obtain the password to the Stateroom Door by passing a skill check when interacting with the northern Stateroom Door.

In addition to the password, you need a Strange Gem to interact with the Portside Stateroom door. You'll find a magic mirror south of the stateroom doors, which allows you to respec your character and companions indefinitely. If you need to persuade the second stateroom door for the password, use the magic mirror to adjust your ability points to pass the necessary check.

Find The Portside Stateroom Door In The Ship's Quarters

With the password secured, head to the ship's quarters to continue your quest. Take the opportunity to interact with the NPCs aboard and consider adding suitable companions to your party. To the west, you'll find an unconscious Bishop Alexander wearing a Source collar, and to the east, you'll see the mysterious Stateroom doors.

Before approaching the Stateroom doors, interact with Bishop Alexander and choose the option to "Look closely at his simple Regalia" to obtain the Strange Gem. Add it to your inventory and then proceed to the eastern Stateroom doors.

At the southern door, your possession of the Strange Gem will be acknowledged, but you'll still need the password from the Sodden Diary. Select the dialogue option with "Fortitude" as the password to unlock the door, granting you access to Magister Dallis' cabin. Inside, you'll also find a hidden hatch with two deadly gheists and a Teleportation Prism.

Finding The Ancient Empire Songbook To Get The Ship Moving

In Magister Dallis' cabin, you'll meet Tarquin, an important NPC. Make sure to exhaust all dialogue options with him before exploring further. The cabin is small, making it easy to locate the Ancient Empire Songbook on a central pedestal. Reading it will prompt a comment from your character about the cryptic text.

Before moving the ship, take the time to speak with all NPCs, as you won't be able to interact with them or swap companions once the ship starts sailing.

Getting The Ship Moving

With the song learned, return to the ship's deck and inform Malady about the tome. She'll ask you to sing the song to the ship. Head to the western part of the deck to find the dragon figurine, interact with it, and choose to sing the song. Lady Vengeance will respond, allowing you to learn more about the ship before setting sail on your next adventure.

Be prepared for an immediate ambush by powerful magisters after getting the ship moving, ensuring your party is well-equipped and has enough companions to face the challenge.
