Sony's CES 2025 announcement brought exciting news for gamers: a film adaptation of their hit game, Helldivers 2, is in development! PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures are teaming up to bring the epic space battles to the silver screen.

Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, made the announcement, stating, "We're thrilled to confirm that we've commenced development on a movie based on the hugely popular Helldivers 2." While specifics remain under wraps, fans can anticipate a visually stunning cinematic experience.

Developed by Arrowhead Studios, Helldivers 2, a Star Troopers-inspired shooter, quickly became a PlayStation Studios bestseller, achieving 12 million sales within its first 12 weeks. The Illuminate update, reintroducing enemies from the original Helldivers, further boosted its popularity.

Adding to the excitement, a Horizon Zero Dawn movie is also on the horizon. PlayStation Productions and Columbia Pictures (the studio behind the successful 2022 Uncharted adaptation) will spearhead this project.

Qizilbash offered a preliminary glimpse, promising, "We're in the early stages of the Horizon Zero Dawn movie, but we can assure viewers: this world and its characters will receive their first-ever cinematic treatment."
