Starfield PS5 Release Hinted by PlayStation Logo in New Creation
Excitement surrounding a potential PlayStation 5 release for *Starfield* has reached new heights after fans discovered a PlayStation logo on Bethesda’s official Creations website. The logo appeared next to a work-in-progress ship decal Creation for the game, and though the item was later removed, speculation continues to grow that Bethesda is preparing a PS5 version of its sci-fi RPG.

The discovery has led many to wonder whether a major content update or even a brand-new expansion could be planned alongside a PS5 launch. After the lukewarm reception of the *Shattered Space* DLC, there hasn’t been much news about future updates for *Starfield*. However, Microsoft typically hosts a summer showcase, making it a prime opportunity to reveal more details about the game’s roadmap.
Bethesda has remained tight-lipped but not silent. The studio recently confirmed it has “exciting things” planned for *Starfield* in 2025, addressing concerns from players who feel left out due to the lack of communication. Back in June 2024, the team reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the title, including at least one additional story-driven expansion beyond *Shattered Space*. In an interview with MrMattyPlays on YouTube, Todd Howard, director at Bethesda Game Studios, hinted at plans to release annual story expansions “for hopefully a very long time.”

Starfield launched in September 2023 as Bethesda’s first major new IP in over two decades and marked the company’s first flagship single-player title since Microsoft acquired ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN awarded the game a 7/10, noting: “Starfield has a lot of forces working against it, but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist.”
In early 2025, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer refused to rule out a PS5 release for *Starfield*, reigniting hope among PlayStation fans. Rumors dating back to March 2024 suggested both *Starfield* and *Indiana Jones and the Great Circle* were being considered for PlayStation. While *Indiana Jones* made the jump to PS5 with a spring 2025 release window, *Starfield* remains officially unconfirmed—though Spencer’s comments imply it may only be a matter of time.
There’s already precedent for Microsoft bringing Xbox titles to PlayStation. Titles like *Sea of Thieves*, *Hi-Fi Rush*, *Grounded*, and *Pentiment* are available on PS5, and Microsoft continues to publish cross-platform hits such as *Minecraft*. Upcoming games like *Doom: The Dark Ages* and *Ninja Gaiden 4* will also arrive on PS5, and there are even rumors that *Halo* might finally break its Xbox exclusivity barrier.

Spencer has openly stated that expanding Xbox games to multiple platforms is part of a broader strategy to grow Microsoft’s gaming revenue—especially following the record-breaking $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
“We run a business,” Spencer said in August 2024. “It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do.
So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us.”
With 450 employees spread across five development teams—including those focused on *Starfield*, *Elder Scrolls VI*, *Fallout 76*, mobile projects, and external partnerships—Bethesda Game Studios is clearly busy building the future of its iconic franchises. Whether that future includes a PS5 launch for *Starfield* remains to be seen, but all signs point toward a multiplatform evolution for some of Xbox’s biggest titles.
