Cattle Country, a soon-to-be-released Steam game, promises a Wild West twist on the popular farming and life sim formula, reminiscent of Stardew Valley. While offering familiar farming mechanics, Cattle Country distinguishes itself with its unique setting and gameplay elements.

Castle Pixel, the independent developer behind Cattle Country, has a history of creating diverse games, from the 2D platformer Rex Rocket to the fantasy adventure Blossom Tales 2. Cattle Country marks their foray into the farming sim genre.

The game's Steam description labels it a "Cozy Cowboy Adventure Life Sim." Players can expect typical farming activities like planting, harvesting, and building, alongside community interactions mirroring Stardew Valley's charm. Establishing friendships with townsfolk and contributing to the town's growth are key elements.

What Makes Cattle Country Unique?

The game's Western setting is its most striking feature. The reveal trailer showcases scenes of nighttime cattle herding around a campfire, and a horse-drawn wagon traversing dusty trails. Additional footage highlights more action-oriented elements, including a Wild West shootout and a bare-knuckle brawl in a rustic arena. Mining is also featured, presented in a 2D style similar to Terraria.

Familiar farming activities like crop protection (using scarecrows), deforestation, and building construction are included. Festivals, inspired by Stardew Valley but with a Western flair, such as a Santa-attended feast and a square dance, add to the charm.
