VICTORIX PRO CONTROLLER: CUSTOMIZABLE COMFORT
This comprehensive review covers a month of using the Victrix Pro BFG Tekken 8 Rage Art Edition controller across PC, PS5, PS4, and Steam Deck. Prior to this, I was intrigued by its modular design and sought a premium controller experience, having previously enjoyed the Xbox Elite (Gen 1) and DualSense Edge.

Unboxing the Victrix Pro BFG Tekken 8 Rage Art Edition
Unlike standard controllers, this package includes a wealth of accessories: the controller itself, a braided cable, a high-quality protective case, a six-button fightpad module, two gates, two analog stick caps, two d-pad caps, a screwdriver, and a blue wireless USB dongle. All items are neatly organized within the protective case. Note that this edition's accessories are themed to match the Tekken 8 aesthetic; replacements might not be readily available.

Compatibility Across Platforms
The Victrix Pro BFG Tekken 8 Rage Art Edition boasts compatibility with PS5, PS4, and PC. Surprisingly, it worked flawlessly on my Steam Deck (docked) without requiring updates. Wireless functionality on PS consoles necessitates the included dongle and selecting the appropriate console mode (PS4 or PS5). The controller performed admirably on both PS4 Pro and PS5. This cross-platform compatibility is a significant advantage, especially for PS4 testing.

Modular Design and Features
The controller's modularity is its standout feature. Users can switch between symmetric and asymmetric stick layouts, utilize the fightpad for fighting games, adjust triggers, thumbsticks, and d-pads. This adaptability caters to various game genres. For example, I used the symmetric layout for Katamari Damacy Reroll and switched to an asymmetric layout for DOOM Eternal. Adjustable trigger stops are also beneficial, allowing customization for racing and other games. The multiple d-pad options are appreciated, although I preferred the default diamond shape.
However, the lack of rumble, haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and gyro/motion control is a significant drawback. While I'm less concerned about gyro, the absence of rumble is disappointing, especially considering budget controllers now offer this feature. It's worth noting that this limitation might stem from restrictions on third-party PS5 controllers.
The controller includes four paddle-like buttons, which I mapped to L3, R3, L1, and R1 for enhanced gameplay. However, I wish these were removable, more traditional paddles.

Aesthetics and Ergonomics
The controller's vibrant color scheme (light blue, pink, purple) and Tekken 8 branding are visually appealing. While not as sleek as the standard black model, it's stylish. The controller is comfortable but feels slightly lightweight. The grip is excellent, enabling extended gaming sessions without fatigue.
PS5 Performance
On PS5, the controller functions well, but it's important to note that it cannot power on the console—a limitation seemingly common among third-party PS5 controllers. Haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and gyro are unavailable. However, touchpad support and all standard DualSense buttons (including the share button) are functional.

Steam Deck Performance
The controller functions seamlessly with the Steam Deck (using the official docking station), correctly identified as a PS5 Victrix controller. The share button and touchpad work as expected in games with PlayStation controller support.
Battery Life
The Victrix Pro BFG boasts significantly longer battery life than the DualSense and DualSense Edge. The low-battery indicator on the touchpad is a welcome addition.

Software and iOS Compatibility
I couldn't test the software (available only on the Microsoft Store), but the controller works flawlessly on Steam Deck, PS5, and PS4 without it. Unfortunately, it's incompatible with iOS devices (tested wirelessly and wired).
Shortcomings
The controller's major drawbacks include the lack of rumble, a low polling rate, the absence of Hall Effect sensors (requiring separate purchase), and the need for a dongle for wireless functionality. The low polling rate is particularly disappointing for a premium controller. The lack of Hall Effect sensors on the base model is also questionable.

Final Verdict
After extensive use across multiple platforms and games, the Victrix Pro BFG Tekken 8 Rage Art Edition is a solid controller, but its flaws are noticeable given its price. It has the potential to be exceptional but needs improvements. The lack of rumble (possibly a Sony restriction), dongle requirement, extra cost for Hall Effect sticks, and low polling rate are significant drawbacks. These issues might not affect all users, but for a $200 "Pro" controller, higher expectations are warranted.
Victrix Pro BFG Tekken 8 Rage Art Edition Review Score: 4/5
Update: Added clarification regarding the lack of rumble.
