According to a recent Bloomberg report, Warner Bros. has canceled a planned paid DLC for the popular Harry Potter-themed game, Hogwarts Legacy. The expansion, which was slated for release this year along with a "Definitive Edition" of the game, was scrapped due to concerns over the content's value relative to its proposed price. Bloomberg reached out to Warner Bros. for a statement, but the company declined to comment on the matter.

This decision comes amid significant restructuring within Warner Bros.' gaming division, prompted by ongoing financial challenges. Earlier in the year, Warner Bros. made the tough call to cancel its anticipated Wonder Woman game and shut down the studio behind it, Monolith Productions, as well as WB San Diego and the MultiVersus developer, Player First Games. Additionally, last September saw layoffs at Rocksteady Studios, further indicating the scale of changes within the division.

Despite this setback with the Hogwarts Legacy DLC, Warner Bros. continues to prioritize the Harry Potter franchise, emphasizing that both the game and the broader IP are among its most valuable assets. The company has publicly stated that developing a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is "one of the biggest priorities," focusing on investing in fewer but larger franchises. This comes on the heels of the original game's remarkable success, having sold over 30 million copies.
