Yuji Horii Reveals Dragon Quest 12 Details Gradually
Fans of the iconic *Dragon Quest* series can breathe a sigh of relief as series creator Yuji Horii confirms that *Dragon Quest 12* is still in active development. During a livestream with his radio show group KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku, as reported by Automaton, Horii shared that the team at Square Enix is "working hard" on the eagerly anticipated game. This update marks the first significant news since May 2024, when Horii had to address the sad losses of both the series' legendary character designer Akira Toriyama and composer Koichi Sugiyama. Additionally, the former lead producer Yu Miyake had stepped down to spearhead Square Enix's mobile game division.
Amidst restructuring at Square Enix and a dearth of updates, fans had voiced concerns that *Dragon Quest 12* might have been canceled. However, Horii's recent remarks dispel these fears and reaffirm the game's ongoing development. The latest information on *Dragon Quest 12* will be released "little by little," keeping fans on the edge of their seats for what's to come.
All we have to show for *Dragon Quest 12* so far is this logo, which was unveiled in 2021. The game was announced as part of the *Dragon Quest* series' 35th anniversary celebration and is poised to be the first mainline entry since 2017's *Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age*.
