While Zenless Zone Zero, developed by HoYoverse, isn't directly subject to the strike (its development predates the July 25, 2024, strike commencement), the actors chose not to sign new contracts, citing solidarity with striking union members and the lack of SAG Interim Agreements offering AI protection.

Chase stated their replacement was due to their refusal to work without a SAG Interim Agreement, emphasizing the importance of AI protections for the industry's future. Thurkettle, a non-union member, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the existential threat AI poses to voice actors and justifying his decision to forgo the role despite its significance in his career. Both actors expressed surprise at their replacement, noting a lack of communication from HoYoverse and Sound Cadence.
