This app, WPSApp, assesses the security of your WiFi network by exploiting vulnerabilities in the WPS protocol. Many routers have known or easily calculable WPS PINs, making them susceptible to unauthorized access.
WPSApp leverages these known PINs and algorithms to attempt connections, identifying potential weaknesses. Beyond PIN brute-forcing, it calculates default keys for certain routers, displays stored WiFi passwords (root access required on Android), scans connected devices, and analyzes WiFi channel quality.
Scan results are color-coded:
- Red Cross: Secure networks; WPS disabled or default password unknown.
- Question Mark: WPS enabled, but PIN unknown; the app tests common PINs.
- Green Tick: Likely vulnerable; WPS enabled with a known PIN, or the password itself is known.
Important Considerations:
- Root Access: Required for password viewing and some advanced features (Android 9/10 and above).
- Accuracy: Not all networks showing vulnerability are actually compromised. Firmware updates often patch these WPS flaws.
- Legal Implications: Unauthorized network access is illegal. Use this app responsibly and only on your own network.
- Android 6+ (Marshmallow): Requires location permissions (per Google's requirements).
- Samsung Devices: Some Samsung models encrypt passwords, displaying hexadecimal values instead. Decryption methods are available online.
- LG Devices (Android 7): PIN connection may not function due to LG's software.
