Fallout: New Vegas's director, Josh Sawyer, along with other key Fallout developers, have voiced their enthusiasm for a new installment in the series. However, their participation hinges on a crucial factor: creative freedom.

Fallout Devs Express Interest in a New Game, But With a Condition

Innovation is Key

This sentiment is echoed by other Fallout developers. Last year, Fallout co-creators Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky expressed their interest in a Fallout: New Vegas remaster. In an interview with The Gamer, Cain highlighted the necessity of innovative elements to reignite his interest in the franchise. He emphasized that past projects captivated him due to their unique aspects and opportunities for creative exploration. A simple request to create another Fallout game wouldn't suffice; the project needs a fresh, compelling concept.

Obsidian's CEO, Feargus Urquhart, also shared his desire to work on another Fallout title, given the chance. However, in a January 2023 interview with Game Pressure, he confirmed that no such project was currently underway. Obsidian's current commitments to Avowed, Grounded, and Outer Worlds 2 leave little room for new endeavors. While Urquhart expressed a hope to contribute to another Fallout game before retirement, he acknowledged that its development remains uncertain and dependent on future scheduling.
