Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Mods Hit Nexus Mods
Bethesda confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered lacks official mod support, yet passionate fans have already released several unofficial mods.
A selection of community-created mods appeared on Nexus Mods shortly after Bethesda and Virtuos’ surprise launch of the Oblivion reimagining for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. While these mods focus on minor customizations, they showcase the dedication of The Elder Scrolls modding community.
As of this article’s publication, 22 mods are available on Nexus Mods. The first mod enables PC players to customize their desktop by swapping the default Oblivion Remastered shortcut with one of two images featuring the iconic Adoring Fan. Other mods let players bypass the Bethesda and Virtuos logo screens, while some adjust gameplay, such as tweaking the Wizard’s Fury spell or removing the in-game compass.
Despite Bethesda’s usual support for modding, the company announced that Oblivion Remastered does not include official mod support. This was clarified in an FAQ on its website.
Nexus Mods user GodschildGaming shared their Iron Longsword damage mod to demonstrate that modding remains viable for Oblivion Remastered.
“This proves modding is possible,” they wrote in the mod’s description. “Bethesda claims no mod support, but that’s not true. It’s essentially Unreal layered over Oblivion, with the data folder buried deeper but following the same structure.”
