A Record-Breaking Unboxing Livestream
On November 26th, 2024, The Pokémon Company International set a new Guinness World Record for the longest unboxing livestream, celebrating the launch of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion.
The event, streamed live on Pokémon's Twitch channel, featured prominent internet personalities including Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. Over 24 hours, this trio opened over 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products, amassing an estimated 20,000+ cards – a feat verified by the official Pokémon Press website.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his pride in the accomplishment: "It's been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators."
The celebration continues! The Pokémon Press website promises additional giveaways on participating content creators' channels within the next two weeks. The cards collected will be organized and donated to charities like Barnardo’s in the UK before the holidays.
Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks Launch
Released November 8th, 2024, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks transports players to the Terarium, a key location in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. This expansion introduces Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as the defensively powerful Archaludon ex.
Iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex also make an appearance.
