The Blood Of Dawnwalker Aims For AAA Quality

30-40 Hour Main Campaign

In a recent interview with Games Radar, The Blood of Dawnwalker's creative director, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, revealed that despite being a smaller studio embarking on their first project, the team is committed to delivering a quality experience reminiscent of CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3.

When discussing the nebulous space between indie and AAA games, Tomaszkiewicz was clear about their aspirations. "In terms of quality, we definitely look at AAA, because this is where we are coming from, the quality level of The Witcher 3," he affirmed. This statement underscores the team's ambition, even though they are starting anew as Rebel Wolves.

The team at Rebel Wolves, while new to the scene under this name, is far from inexperienced. Comprising former CD Projekt Red developers who contributed to both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, the studio was founded by Mateusz and his brother Konrad Tomaszkiewicz. Their goal is to harness greater creative freedom, unbound by the limitations often found in larger AAA studios like CDPR.

"Our games are not as vast in terms of content and gameplay hours - we are a smaller studio, this is our first project, so we're definitely crafting something smaller. Yet, our aim is to ensure robust quality, albeit in a shorter format," Tomaszkiewicz explained. He further noted that The Blood of Dawnwalker's main campaign is targeted to last between 30 to 40 hours, which, while not typical of AAA game lengths, does not detract from its AAA quality. "If size is your measure, then yes, it's not the size of a AAA like The Witcher. But I don't know if size is the measure, to be honest, because there are AAA games like Call of Duty that aren't 100+ hours gameplay campaigns. And I don't know if anyone would call them AA, or indie."

Set in the mystical land of Vale Sangora, The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG. Players will embody Coen, a young peasant who gains vampiric powers after a fateful encounter with one of the land's most formidable vampires. His journey is driven by a personal mission to save his ailing sister, navigating through the dark and hostile world to achieve his goal.

While an exact release date remains undisclosed, The Blood of Dawnwalker is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Fans can look forward to a gameplay reveal in Summer 2025.
