“游戏随着玩家的行动而发展，所以当玩家不在场时（在玩家不知情的情况下）发生戏剧性事件时，”他解释道，“玩家的情感就会脱节。但有了无线电收发器，就可以在其他角色的故事或情况同时被预示的情况下，描绘出玩家的当前处境。”小岛对这款电子游戏“噱头”的持久影响感到自豪，并指出“今天的大多数射击游戏”仍在使用类似的无线电收发器概念。
